Please let her know also if you are running or supporting / drinking. Also have a look at the events section to keep up to date with arrangements

INTERNATIONAL TRIP
The annual club running trip has become something of an institution which has grown into quite an expensive few days away over the last few years. To bring it back under control and to try get as many people as possible included this year we are going back to basics with a cheap short flight from a local airport with options to suit even those with limited time, a clean but cheap hotel and last but not least, a run for all abilities. We present The Amsterdam Marathon. Sunday 17 October 2010. The race starts and finishes in the Amsterdam Olympic Stadium. Many of us have made the trip before. Everyone acknowledges that this is one of the best events we have been involved with. As well as a full marathon there is a half and for wimps, ahem, the less active of us, a dinky little 7.5k. Full details at http://www.amsterdammarathon.nl/home/index.php?language=UK Whilst you are not actually running, Amsterdam has any number of famous and infamous attractions and diversions to suit all tastes. http://www.amsterdamtourist.nl/ Jet 2 out of Leeds Bradford have a variety of flights from Friday morning 15th, afternoon 15th and even morning 16th all of which will get you there in good time for the run. Coming home, you can fly Sunday evening 17th, or Monday morning or evening 18th. Even the most expensive option, Early Friday to late Monday comes in below £100 if you just take hand luggage. https://reservations.jet2.com/JET2.RESERVATIONS.WEB.PORTAL/lowfaresearcherpage.aspx Finally the hotel: we have stayed several times before at the Piet Hein hotel which is just outside the main city centre next to the famous Vondel Park. It is on the bus route to the Olympic Stadium so very convenient for all. http://www.hotelpiethein.com/home.html The quoted double room rate for B & B, 15th to 18th October is 315 Euros or at todays exchange rate, about £270. That’s about £45 per night a head if you share. Not bad for a major European capital. A single is 285 Euros. Rather than booking individually we will try to get a group discount at the hotel so if you want to go, book your flight with jet2, then send an email to davidp.coates@tiscali.co.uk with your name and the number of nights you are staying. Also please say whether you want a single, double or twin. If you are sharing include all names. We will then contact the hotel. So we keep this fairly tight, if you have not replied to David Coates by 11.59 pm, 8 February, you’re on your own. If you have any questions at all, please collar one of the committee as soon as possible or call or email David Coates. 07976 439 668.

LEEDS HALF MARATHON – 9 MAY
Ok it's a toughy and you're not likely to get a pb, but it's our home half marathon so show it some support. And there's sure to be a club social afterwards. Here's the official blurb: After the huge success of the 2009 GDF SUEZ Leeds Half Marathon we are delighted to be organising the event again in 2010. The event, that had it's official launch on Briggate in January, will follow the same route as previous years and welcomes runners from across the UK and beyond. The winner of the half marathon for males and females will each receive £500 in prize money. The first male and female from the Leeds local authority area, or from a Leeds club, will each receive £200 in prize money. This year, runners can also get regular updates about the Half Marathon and Corporate Challenge via Twitter. There will be celebratory drinks at the club afterwards – more info to follow

Imagine running 151 miles across the desert. That’s exactly what Chris Hare has signed up to do. He has decided to help raise money for WaterAid by running 151 miles over six days across the Sahara! The Marathon Des Sables (mds) is a multi stage 151 mile ultra marathon run in 6 stages over 7 days with the longest stage being 50 miles. That's the equivalent of 5 1/2 marathons. It takes place in April, in the Sahara Desert in Morocco south of the Atlas Mountains For more info about this challenge and to sponsor Chris follow this link http://original.justgiving.com/chrishare
