Member of the Moment

The following runners have been nominated as Chapel Allerton Runners member of the moment. To nominate a club member you think has 'gone the extra mile' please email or speak to any Committee member.

April 2020

Rob Greenland

Rob has been a brilliant ambassador for the club since he joined us, with his work on reducing carbon emissions and plastic use for races, and his constant enthusiasm for participating in club events. He’s also a damn fine runner! During the beginning of lockdown, it was Rob who came to us with the idea of the Postbox Challenge, and he reccied it and helped make it happen. It typifies his community spirit and reminds us what an asset he is to the club. Very well done!

August 2019

Stephen Todd

Steve has been a longstanding member of the club and has recently hit some outstanding form this season. He has not only broken the V65 record for the mile at Hyde Park earlier this year but also obliterated the 10K record which he completed at York knocking 8 minutes off the previous record set in 2014! Steve now holds 3 of the V65 records including the 5K which he set last year. Huge congratulations Steve!

June 2019

Suzzi Garnett

The success of the Parkrun cup was great to see and really bough the whole club together to battle it out for this innagural event. There were many closly fought battles and amazing to see so many of the cub there for the final day at Roundhay Park. We want to recognise Suzzi for her amazing effort in organising and keeping track of all the results over the weeks of the event! Suzzi has put heaps of work into making sure this was a success and I think we can all agree it was certainly one of the highlgihts this year so far. Well done Suzzi! Bring it all on again next year.

March & April 2019

Huge congratulations to Jen Whiteman our current Member of the Moment! The honour has been bestowed on Jen for her incredible performance at the Manchester Marathon in April. Having previously run a 4hr 9 minute Marathon in 2017 she took 45 minutes off that time and ran a 3 hr 24 minute Marathon – an amazing achievement, well done Jen!

January & February 2019

For the first time we want to recognise 3 (yes THREE) stand out members of the club.

Each of these three people always receive great feedback from new and existing members for being helpful, friendly and welcoming but now we want to recognise them for stepping up and helping the club put on our PECO race and setting us up for great success! So please when you see them next say THANK YOU and WELL DONE to:

Denise McGeachy- stepped up late to cover Race Director

Donna Russell- last few weeks stepped in to organise our senior marshals and volunteers

Laura Sedgley- with only a few days to go saved the day with our junior race marshals!

December 2018

Lindsay Lowson

Lindsay has been a member of the club for a number of years and rarely gets called out for her contribution. Recently though, this has been massive in that Lindsay was a key member in the team in setting up our new local parkrun in Potternewton. She gave up loads of her own time to make this happen and represented our club in the local community. Top this off with being a key volunteer coordinator the committee was unanimous in deciding Lindsay to be our well-deserved Member of the Moment.

November 2018

Tony Padgett - A long standing member of the club, always on hand to support the club and going over and above by entering and completing the 50k race at Keswick Mountain Festival this year. Without a competitor in that event, we wouldn’t have been able to defend our Trail Club Cup title, so massive THANK YOU to Tony!

July 2017

Jen Whiteman. Since completing her first marathon earlier this year Jen has been to virtually every training session going and run in every race possible. She has smashed PBs, hoovered up Club Champs points, scored in the Keswick trail cup and been a very active social member.

June 2017

Anna Harrold. In her first year with the Club Anna has been a regular at interval training, Wednesday runs and races. She has completed her first marathon and finished as first CAR lady in 3 PECOs this season. Well done on such a good first year with the Club!

April 2017

Sarah McLaren and Seonad Macnay. For not only for completing their first ever 10k in extremely respectable times (Sarah 68:49 / Seonad 66:00) and looking fabulously strong - but for turning out every Monday evening, even in the pouring rain, during the winter months for training. (Thank you to John Costigan for coming along to some of these sessions, also).

Seonad has entered the Eccup 10 mile and Sarah has a place in the Great North Run, so they both look set to take their running to the next level. Well done on progressing from our 2016 beginners course and coming so far!

March 2017

Mike Dearden - For his fantastic recent form - notching up PBs in the Brass Monkey half marathon (82:09), Snake Lane 10 mile (62:06), Dewsbury 10k (37:47) and finishing first for the men’s team in the last two PECOs at West Park and Barnow.

February 2017

Fraser Howitt. Since working his way up the ranks from the beginners course and joining the club, Fraser has continued to impress with his dedication and hard work to progressing with his running.

Initially intending to reveal all to his family at his ParkRun graduation, all was discovered when they found his ParkRun barcode in his bag during one weekend! Well done Fraser.

July 2016

Lora Forster-Hughes, who after years of sterling service has left the Club’s committee. She deserves a HUGE thank you for the time and energy she has put into the Club!

April 2016

Lizzie Scott and Bex Forster - retiring committee members - for their tireless work leading our Monday interval training.

February 2016

Simon Armitstead, for his impressive performances and PBs in 5k, half marathon and PECO - reflected by him sitting at the top of the men's Club Championship. Also for being a thoroughly nice chap, punctual and never getting lost at Parkrun (oh well you can’t have everything!)

December 2015

Bekki Wheatley. For her contribution to the club as a resigning committee member, Christmas party organiser and Parkrun takeover queen. All whilst continuing to work on her own running and improving her times post baby.

November 2015

Nicola Walmsley & Sarah Follon. Nicola and Sarah, who have both been members the club for less than a year, have already completed their first marathons (a huge achievement) and are very active members - regularly joining us for Wednesday night Club runs and at Monday speed training. Enjoy the £10 (each) bar credit ladies!

October 2015

Jodie Lloyd. For tireless and excellent work with the beginners group that has been a huge credit to the club.

March 2015

Chris Lyons. For the epic task of leading our PECO effort in Roundhay Park. He delivered a flawless and memorable race.

February 2015

Michael Vinegrad, aka Vinny. One of our newer members who has already set new 5km and 10km PBs, as well as quickly becoming a popular member of the club. He is always the first to offer lifts and cheer on other runners.
